Field Manual · Wormholes

No Local, no mercy, no lazy bookmarks.

A practical wormhole field guide for class expectations, statics, mass and lifetime thinking, polarization, bookmarks, D-scan habits, chain discipline, gas harvesting, hauling, and getting back out. Wormhole mechanics reward detail — please send feedback if something is off or missing.

Field rule: in wormholes, safety is process. Bookmark everything, scan your chain, watch D-scan, understand mass/lifetime, and never assume the way home will stay open.

Wormhole quick read

No Local

D-scan is your pulse

Most danger will not introduce itself in chat. Probes, wrecks, ships, and structures are signals.

Statics

Connections are identity

A wormhole system is partly defined by what kind of connection it reliably respawns.

Mass/life

Holes die two ways

Wormholes age out by time and collapse from ships passing mass through them.

Polarization

Jumping has consequences

Repeatedly jumping the same connection can trap you on the wrong side when it matters.

Wormhole class reference

This is a field-reading table, not a complete mapper. Use it to set expectations before committing ships, cargo, or a gas huffing session.

C1Difficulty 1/6Entry wormhole exploration, lower-end sites, lightweight roaming.Mass limits and no Local still punish lazy habits.

C2Difficulty 2/6Popular chain systems because C2s can bridge known-space and wormhole statics.More traffic than the class number implies. Assume visitors.

C3Difficulty 3/6Common solo/small-group PvE and daytripping target.Sites, exits, and gas can attract hunters quickly.

C4Difficulty 4/6Deeper wormhole living and chain control. No direct known-space static pattern; logistics discipline matters.
c4midwormhole
C5Difficulty 5/6Capital-escalation history, high-value groups, serious wormhole corps.Expect experienced hunters, rolling, and organized response.
c5highwormhole
C6Difficulty 6/6Deepest regular wormhole class with high-value opportunities and high expectations.Do not treat C6 space as casual daytrip content.

ShatteredDifficulty 4/6Special wormhole systems with unusual structure/anchoring rules and resource patterns.Assume normal habits may not apply; scout and verify.

TheraDifficulty 4/6Large shattered wormhole hub with many connections and public mapping interest. It is convenient because everyone else can use it too.

Core mechanics

Mass and lifetime

  • Every wormhole connection has a remaining lifetime.
  • Every jump pushes mass through the connection.
  • Rolling is intentionally collapsing a connection with mass.
  • Do not move a valuable hauler through a critical hole casually.

Polarization

  • Repeated jumps through the same connection can stop you from immediately jumping back.
  • Hunters use this against panicked pilots.
  • Pause, read the timer, and do not spam-jump without understanding the trap.

Gas Guide

Understand fullerite gas before huffing in J-space.

Apply this lesson

Turn scanning habits into a living chain.

Use the private Wormhole Chain Mapper to add systems and connections, reconcile fresh Probe Scanner pastes, mark mass and lifetime changes, and find the current route home.
